It's a kid thing...

Jonathan was playing farming/ranching one day in February 2011...
I discovered some little girl's touches later...

The kids were playing outside...do you think they're ready for summer? This lawn chair has been around for awhile...see it here too.
March 18, 2011 Jonathan won "Most Dedicated to Design" for Excavator at the library Lego contest.

He also likes to build with K'Nex. Here's a gecko. Here are some other K'Nex posts:
The kids were out to Gramma and Papa's before Easter 2011. Gramma dyed eggs with them.
Here are the results...

Look what the kids are up to!

Here's miss Annisia in her sweetest little gingham blouse and shorts and CURLS! (OK, so I have to wet her hair, twist it in a tight spiral, twist it tightly in a bun and wait overnight, but we get curls occasionally!) I think I bragged to too many people this day, and she got too many compliments on her sweet curls. She turned to me at one point and said, "Mommy, I don't want curls any more." ; -(

Jonathan is enjoying dressing himself... He had this shirt on, the plaid button up one with a pair of khaki pants for meeting. After lunch, he changed into a pair of sweatpants and a fleece sweatshirt as it had cooled down quite a bit. Well, he played outside for awhile, and got soaking wet, washing the go-go car. So! Into the house he went to change clothes again. He now has a Denver Broncos tshirt on under the initial button up shirt with these red pants that fold up into capris. He's a firefighter every time he puts these red pants on. So he's a Denver Broncos firefighter...a very important job, thank you! Michael had the hammock out for a nap, and the kids like to play in it. Then Jonathan got the 'great' idea to walk on the log railing of our deck. He climbed up the post, we held his hand (M once and I once), and he was set to go. Funny thing is, I was more worried about him getting a sliver in his foot then him falling!

Then the kids enjoyed some time playing on the loader tractor. Annisia was on her relatively new kick of being a dog, Macy, (whyever, I don't get!) and Jonathan was giving her a ride. He'd say, "Macy, you hang on now. We're going to go fast!" and they'd speed down the driveway. When they came back and up the little slope we have, he'd say, "Macy, this is too hard. You're too heavy." I don't know why Annisia has her little bottom lip out, but...

Jonathan, Jonathan, Jonathan

We had a playdate with a neighbor friend. Jonathan likes Dawson's excavator. Isn't it cool? It is battery powered, it scoops, the boom goes out...it's great. I think Jonathan would like one too.

This was May 3rd, a sunny, windy day. Jonathan enjoyed being outside with his loader tractor. He took dirt ("mud") from this area we just tilled and planted tall grass seed in, and carried it to the newly tilled garden. Hmmm...will we be growing pasture grass in the garden now?!

May 4...Daddy got home from work and came in the house. When he went out later to have Jonathan help him back the truck into the garage, Jonathan was "pumping up the truck"! He had the hose inside the tailpipe (fortunately, the truck was turned off!). He is fascinated with the bike pump. He will cart it around all afternoon, pumping up the wheelbarrow tires, the tires on the go-go car, his trike, his motorcycle (despite the fact that they're plastic). Whatever keeps him happy, right?

And this morning, May 5, Jonathan relaxed in our bathroom while Daddy showered. He was having a rough morning, didn't want to eat the yummy omelet Daddy made, didn't want his diaper changed, didn't want to do anything he was asked to do, wanted to say "no" to everything. So he finally was chilling with his snuggly, wooby, and the IPod with Enya.

Grandpa & Grandma O visit

Then Grandma and Grandpa came to visit. They brought Annisia her 6 month gift...

...a shiny new tractor and trailer! Wow! Now she doesn't have to use her brother's. Jonathan got a new Volvo semi truck too. He thinks it's pretty cool.

Grandpa and Jonathan went to the sandbox and Grandpa built a "sandapple" with an apple sandbox toy.

Then Jonathan stomped it! Was Grandpa surprised!

Grandma and Jonathan built a castle. Jonathan did most of the work. Then he got out his play jigsaw and cut it down one Lego at a time.

I left Annisia with Grandma and Grandpa one morning and took Jonathan to library hour. I think it is the first time since Annisia's birth that Jonathan and I have done something alone. Annisia is a bit of a Momma's girl, so it was with a little trepidation that I walked out the door. I came home to a soundly sleeping Grandpa's girl. Isn't she sweet?!

Jonathan the rancher

One day, I swept the kitchen. (yes, it happens occasionally!) Jonathan asked for the dustpan when I was done. He asked for it to be connected to his loader tractor, so Loren (the workers were staying with us) found him a leather string and hooked it up. Jonathan was telling me all about it, saying a word I couldn't figure out...something like "arener". I thought it was the sound the loader made or something, and kept saying "yes, the loader goes "arrrerr". Then he said "Papa drives the loader in the arena." And the light came on! Oh! It's an "Arena-er" for dragging the riding arena at Gramma and Papa's. He couldn't be corrected...Loren kept trying to tell him it was called a chain drag, but Jonathan knows better. It's an "arena-er". What a clever child! He also knows Gramma drives a Kawasaki mule, and Papa's is a Kubota. All this from a 2 1/2 year old!
